The Future’s Bright
Sovann Komar has been caring for our 56 children for fourteen years now. We are watching these incredible young people grow up and as they enter their teenage years we are beginning to think about their future careers. Alongside attending both Khmer and English language schools, Sovann Komar will soon begin to offer vocational courses for our older children. The job market in Cambodia is expanding rapidly with English speakers in high demand as western influences, concepts, businesses and tourists flood into the country. There is no defined path for any of our children. We want them to discover their own strengths and learn about a variety of career possibilities before settling for one. In order to do this, we will expose them to as many different kinds of work as possible as well as supporting and encouraging them to pursue their passions and talents.
It is an incredible privilege to be able to watch our children grow up and develop into bright, conscientious, inquisitive and hard-working young adults. We’ve gathered together a few photos for some of our children to offer just a snapshot of their journey in Sovann Komar so far. Accompanying each photo set is the child’s current aspiration.
“When I grow up I want to be a translator because I am good at English.”
“When I grow up I want to be an artist.”
“When I grow up I want to be a teacher.”
“When I grow up I want to be a policeman because I want to stop the robbers who steal something.”
